Thalang officers arrest dealer, seize 214 meth pills

PHUKET: A suspected small-scale drug dealer has been arrested in Thalang during a late-night crackdown led by district officials as part of ongoing efforts to suppress narcotics in Phuket.

The arrest was made at 11:20pm on Saturday (Mar 28) in Moo 5, Srisoonthorn. The operation was led by Deputy District Chief and Narcotics Suppression Officer Chaiporn Yangjin.

Local officials, including Village Headman Noparit Rungruang and his assistant Danupol Phettharit, joined security personnel from the Thalang District branch of the Volunteer Defence Corps (OrSor) in carrying out the raid.

Authorities arrested one suspect, identified only as ‘Mr A’, in possession of 31.58 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice) and 214 methamphetamine pills (ya bah).

He has been charged with selling Category 1 narcotics by possessing drugs for distribution without permission, as well as illegal consumption of Category 1 narcotics.

The suspect was handed over to Thalang Police Station for further legal proceedings.
