The new facility was officially opened during a merit-making and blessing ceremony held at the hospital this week, attended by Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation Chairman Lek Tantiwongpaisan, foundation committee members, hospital executives and medical staff.
The foundation’s donation funded the renovation of the hospital’s fourth-floor ward into a dedicated dialysis centre, along with the installation of a reverse-osmosis (RO) water treatment system, the purchase of dialysis machines, patient beds and other standard medical equipment.
Hospital officials said the new centre will increase capacity to treat patients with kidney disease, reduce the need for patients to travel to other hospitals for dialysis and improve access to specialist care for residents of Thalang District and nearby areas.
The project is also intended to accommodate the growing number of kidney patients requiring regular dialysis treatment while providing faster and more convenient access to care closer to home.
The ceremony included Buddhist merit-making in the morning, followed by an Islamic religious ceremony later in the day.
Among those attending were Thalang Hospital Director Dr Sakchai Na Wang-ang, Thalang Hospital Development Committee Vice Chairwoman Somjit Suthangakul and nephrologist Dr Niwat Saipetch.
Dr Niwat said the haemodialysis centre and a new semi-critical care ward were established to increase the hospital’s ability to care for kidney patients and other patients requiring higher levels of medical attention.
Thalang Hospital expressed its appreciation to the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation, the Thalang Hospital Development Committee and other supporters whose donations made the project possible.
