The operation was carried out on the evening of May 12 under the Ministry of Interior’s “Social Order” policy campaign.

At about 7pm, Thalang District Chief Wilailak Ruangphol led a joint team of district security officers, volunteer defence forces, village headmen and community security volunteers in setting up a checkpoint in the alley behind Wat Tha Ruea in Moo 3, Srisoonthorn.

Officials described the area as a known high-risk location for illegal activity.

During searches of people and vehicles passing through the area, officers arrested one suspect found in possession of methamphetamine and handed the suspect over to Thalang Police Station for legal action.

Random urine testing conducted during the operation returned 17 positive results for drug use.

According to district officials, 16 of those who tested positive agreed to enter rehabilitation programmes and perform community service as part of reintegration measures.

Another person was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and prosecuted immediately.

Officials said information gathered from drug users during the operation led to a follow-up raid later the same night in Moo 1, Mai Khao.

During that raid, officers arrested a suspected small-scale drug dealer and seized 200 ya bah pills.

The suspect was handed over to Tha Chatchai Police for further investigation, including efforts to trace larger drug trafficking networks operating in the area.

Thalang District officials said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to tighten social order and improve public safety across the district.

“We will continue to enforce social order without compromise to ensure Thalang remains safe and peaceful for residents,” the district office said in a statement.
