Thailand honours HM The King with ‘Rama 10 Stamps’

PHUKET: The Thailand Post (THP) yesterday announced that it will start issuing ‘Rama 10 stamps’ on Saturday in honour of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.

Yesterday (July 25) in Bangkok, Samorn Terdtampibul, of the management board of Thailand Post Co Ltd, announced that the state enterprise will start releasing stamps for HM The King’s 66th Birthday which falls on Saturday (July 28).

There will be three different stamps which will feature different images of HM The King.

The stamps feature images of HM The King in Royal Military Uniform. The background of the stamps will be a golden Thai pattern with the title 66-year-old Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun,” Ms Samorn said.

This stamps will be sold at B10 each and First Day covers will be sold at B20.

Ms Samorn also pointed out that another stamp titled ‘The First Image of the King’s Reign’ which will feature an image of HM The King dressed in ancient royal attire.

These will be available at 12 price levels; one baht, two baht, three baht, five baht, six baht, seven baht, nine baht, B10, B12 , B15, B50, and B100.

In addition, souvenir stamp sheets will also be available B250 and First Day covers will be available at B265,” Ms Samorn added.

All stamps will be available at post offices nationwide from Saturday onward.

According to his biography, King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun held a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from University of New South Wales.

In 1982 he completed a second bachelor’s degree in law with second-class honours at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University.
