Panidone Pachimsawat, the ministry’s deputy spokesman, quoted the Thai embassy in Tel Aviv yesterday as reporting that the Thai farm worker was killed late Wednesday night.

According to local media reports, the Iranian strikes using cluster munition missiles took place in the Sharon area, just north of Tel Aviv.

The embassy has informed the worker’s family of the loss, reports the Bangkok Post. The government extended condolences to the family and is working out full compensation with Israel, Mr Panidone said.

He repeated the ministry’s call for Thais to leave risky areas in the Middle East as soon as possible. “The situation in the Middle East remains violent and attacks are expanding from military targets to infrastructure,” he said.

So far, 1,173 Thai evacuees have been repatriated from the Middle East.

The United States and Israel have been attacking oil and natural gas infrastructure in Iran, including one of the world’s largest natural gas sources, and Iran is retaliating by targeting energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

“This will affect the world economy and global oil prices,” Mr Panidone said.

Israel has also been heavily attacking positions held by Iran-backed Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon, resulting in hundreds of fatalities and injuries, he said.
