According to a police source, the 29-year-old mother, whose name was withheld, was arrested in Taiwan and will be flown back to Thailand on Thai Airways flight TG633, arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport at 5pm, reports the Bangkok Post.
The woman faces serious charges, including procuring her minor child for prostitution and human trafficking, which can result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine of up to 2 million baht.
An arrest warrant was issued last month after she allegedly compelled her daughter to work at a massage parlour in central Tokyo earlier this year before fleeing to Taiwan.
The case came to light in mid-September, when the girl approached the Tokyo Regional Immigration Services Bureau seeking help.
She claimed to have been left by her mother at a massage parlour in Tokyo’s Bunkyo Ward in late June. There, she said she was forced to work under harsh conditions and to provide sexual services for about a month.
Japanese police have arrested two suspects connected to the parlour: owner Masayuki Hosono, 51, for employing a minor and violating labour laws, and a Thai employee, Kritayaporn (surname withheld), for immigration and employment violations.
