“It is an honour. Beijing is my second home and I have a lot of friends here. My ultimate target is to guide the team to win the Chinese league. But the first step is to steer the team to finish in the top four in the upcoming season.”

His wife, Feng Kun, was born in the Chinese capital and played for the club.

The 2015-2016 Chinese league season begins in October.

Kiattipong is Thailand’s most successful volleyball coach of all-time, having guided the women’s team to win two Asian titles among other achievements.

He will remain as the country’s national coach.
