It was eleven years ago when the Isan Project’s brainchild and Executive Producer “Will Robinson” first successfully fused western beats with Thai instruments. After recording two albums in Bangkok including their song “Thailand Amazing Thailand” which has been a firm Instagram favorite with tourists visiting Thailand, Robinson was invited to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia by his sponsor “Jack Lui”.

Following a warm greeting on arrival in the capital, Robinson was whisked away in a convoy of cars filled with Mongolian legends on a nine hour drive to the Ara Folk Festival in Arkhangai Province. After a weekend of Mongolian folk music and picnics full of local dishes in the surrounding mountains, his next stop was to return to Ulaanbaatar to meet Former President of Mongolia President Erikhbayar and his daughter CEO of TV9 Mongolia Byambadulam Erikhbayar, followed by the CEO of the Mongolian Chamber of Commerce Magnaibaatar Tsendsuren. The whole experience drew inspiration and Will known for being an instinctive songwriter wrote the lyrics the next day to the new soundtrack “Magical Mongolia”, he then forwarded his idea to his co writer “Daniel Ryan”. Robinson says “It was a start of a great international collaboration with Mongolian artists, thanks to Mongolian co-producer Demi Batmunkh Suren. I arranged the song in Thailand with Daniel, we made a demo and the idea really worked well, then Demi recorded legendary Mongolian artists “The Baatar”, “Badma Badamkhand”, and “Batzorig Vaanchig” in Ulaanbaatar at New Nomad Records, and we added drums by Erik Hargrove in Singapore and Livingstone Brown on guitars and Disney vocalist Sonia Rele in London, the soundtrack was finally mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios, London.”

The Isan Project encouraged by Thailand’s former Minister of Tourism and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat, has been a big promoter of tourism in Thailand with their music and video releases over the last decade, The project has also been working on a song called “One Love Asean” for “Asean” and a new idea for tourism in Thailand called “I love my life in the sun” which is tipped to be another firm favourite on Instagram.

Magical Mongolia is available on all digital platforms.
