Thai man wanted for fatal stabbing of Myanmar worker

PHUKET: Police are searching for a Thai man wanted for fatally stabbing a Myanmar worker and wounding the Myanmar’s man’s wife during a confrontation over the Thai man allegedly having an affair with the Myanmar man’s wife.

Police were informed of the stabbing incident by a representative of a workers’ camp in Baan Manik, Srisoonthorn, at about 2:59am yesterday (Aug 28).

The victim, identified as Wu Tun Nyan, a Myanmar national, had been rushed to Thalang Hospital and later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries, police learned.

The altercation reportedly began around 11pm on Tuesday night (Aug 27), when Mr Wu Tun Nyan confronted the Thai man, named by police only as “Mr Game”.

Mr Wu Tun Nyan was suspicious that Game was involved in an intimate relationship with his wife, Daw San Myint, also a Myanmar national. 

The confrontation escalated into violence, during which Game allegedly stabbed both Mr Wu Tun Nyan and Ms Daw San Myint.

Ms Daw San Myint was also injured in the incident and taken to Vachira Hospital for treatment. 

Following the attack, Game fled the scene.

Thalang Police said officers were currently investigating the case and searching for the suspect.
