The 58-second clip, filmed at the popular scenic spot at the southern end of the island, shows a woman believed to be part of a filming crew wrapping the national flag around a pole while setting up a shot. Moments later, a man – thought to be a local – approaches and unfurls the flag, an act that quickly drew widespread praise online.

The video was first shared on Facebook, where it ignited heated debate. Many commenters accused the team of disrespecting a national symbol, questioning why the flag was moved in the first place.

Comments included: “If you film with the Thai flag, people will admire you a lot”, “There are so many places to film – why disturb the flag?” and “I thought they were foreigners, but Thai people wouldn’t do this.”

Some users even speculated about the crew’s nationality, with one asking, “Is this a Cambodian crew?” while others urged production teams to be more mindful when working at public locations.

The identity of the crew and the purpose of the filming remain unclear, but the clip has since been widely shared across multiple platforms, with many praising the man who unrolled the flag as showing respect to Thailand’s national pride.
