Police and medics were called to the K Apartments in Soi Saitee off Pattaya 3rd Road, close to the Bali Hai Overpass, and attended to a Colin Thomas Gardiner, who was in a semi-conscious state and had lost a considerable amount of blood from the single gunshot wound to his neck.
The alleged shooter, his Thai Boyfriend, Tiradaet, 33, was arrested nearby after he attempted to flee the scene of the shooting. He was caught with a 38 caliber handgun which is thought to have been used by him to shoot Mr Gardiner.
Staff at the apartments told Police that Tiradaet had moved in to the apartment complex 2 days prior to the shooting. Every day his English boyfriend visited him but would not go up to his room. The pair would meet and talk on the ground floor at the front of the complex.
On the day of the shooting the pair met as usual and no raised voices could be heard. Seconds later 2 gun shots were heard and Mr Gardiner was seen on the ground clutching his neck.
When caught, the suspected shooter told Police that he was angry at the constant comments from Mr Gardiner regarding his heavy drinking, smoking and regular nights out and wanted him to stop. The comments were relentless according to Tiradaet, who lost his temper yesterday to the point where he decided to shoot his lover in the neck.
Police do not entirely believe the story but have charged Tiradaet with attempted murder, a charge which could be elevated depending on the health status of Mr Gardiner, who remains in a critical condition in Hospital at this time.
