The incident came to light after CCTV footage showed two youths armed with long knives slashing parked motorcycles while a third waited nearby on a motorcycle, apparently acting as a lookout.
According to Kathu Police, the owner of Mai Big Bike motorcycle repair shop in Moo 6, Kathu, filed a complaint at 5:43pm yesterday after neighbours informed him that customers’ motorcycles parked outside his shop had been vandalised.
Officers confirmed that four motorcycles were damaged, including several Honda models. One of the motorcycles bore a Phuket licence plate, while the other three had no licence plates.
Police reviewed CCTV footage and found that the attack occurred at about 6:50am.
The footage allegedly shows two young men approaching the parked motorcycles and using long knives to slash and damage them before fleeing the scene. A third suspect remained on a motorcycle nearby during the incident.
No injuries were reported.
Kathu Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects.
Officers are also urging anyone whose motorcycles may have been damaged in similar incidents to come forward and file complaints to assist with the investigation and prosecution.
