The super modern beach hotel includes a number of dining options, each possessing their own unique character as well as glorious views of Phuket.
I recently headed to Plum, a sophisticated, stunning restaurant located on the rooftop. It can be best described as authentic Mediterranean offering diners a festival of flavours.
As soon as I walked in I felt like I had stepped into a foodie’s dream. The chance to eat heavenly foods with the most unbelievable views surrounding you. A paradise if you will. There were a number of tables both inside and outside, but the restaurant’s top selling point were the number of luxurious salas on the outside decking area.
These were huge comfy-like sofas placed under a gazebo style roof, creating an intimate, romantic feel and ensuring that diners feel at their utmost relaxed.
Once we finally got comfortable in our sala, we were handed over some iPads which featured the restaurant’s menu. It was easy to use and a nice touch. First up, we order the essentials. Some yummy espresso martinis for the table. After, the warm, friendly team brought us over a selection of starters which included a sizzling concoction of fresh garden salad, avocado and nuts in a delicious, rich French mustard dressing; tuna carpaccio which included some fresh yellow fin tuna, sliced thin and enriched with capers, lemon and greens; as well as a classic dish of beef tartare, which was absolutely divine.
Following this we were served a dish which was reminiscent to something my mother would have whipped up during a cold winter’s day in my youth: warm, wild mushroom soup. The rich and smooth veloutée was made of wild porcini mushrooms enriched with a light emulsion of white truffle and tapioca pearls.
Next came my favourite dish. The risotto ai porcini e salsiccia. A beautiful mix of wild porcini mushrooms and fresh Italian sausage tossed in a creamy, flavoursome risotto.
Our table were also served a number of other delightful dishes including the polletto alla diavola, baby chicken, “devil’s style”, roasted to perfection while constantly basted with a spicy mix of mustards and herbs, and served with potato skins. Absolutely exquisite.
The menu features a number of impeccable dishes, and there is guaranteed to be something for everyone. No matter what diners are in the mood for, they can be assured they’ll be left feeling satisfied. The consistently fresh flavours, along with the magnificent views and aura of the restaurant, and not to mention the staff who go above and beyond to ensure guests are happy, all make Plum such a cracking find.
