Chalong Police were notified of the death at 8.50pm last night by a Thai woman, who told police she had discovered the body of her Swiss husband, named as Roland Hermann.
Case officer, Lt Chanut Hongsittichaiyakul of Chalong Police Station responded to the scene, a room at the "Pannara Safehouse" on Soi Sai Yuan in Rawai, where the westerner was lying down lifeless.
The body did not appear to have any marks and there weren't any signs of a struggle, noted Lt Chanut.
"The wife says he suffered from heart disease. In any case, we've sent the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine the cause of death."
Lt Chanut declined to name the Thai woman.
