The operation involved EOD officers from Region 8 Police accompanied by Phuket Provincial Police, Cherng Talay Police, local administrative officers and Thalang District officials.
The teams used specialised equipment and metal detectors to sweep the beach and nearby construction sites.
The search led to the discovery of one suspicious device buried beneath a tree near a public restroom, in an area where the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning is currently carrying out landscape improvements.
EOD officers successfully destroyed the device in a controlled operation, police reported.
Authorities are continuing to search the beach for a possible second device, as the suspect had confessed to placing suspicious objects at two locations.
Security in the area remains heightened while the search continues.
The search for explosive devices at Surin beach began after one of the suspects arrested ni Phang Nga earlier this week later told police that more devices had been planted in public places on the island.
Surin beach was not a location initially confessed by suspects as a location where explosives had bene planted.
As of this morning, police were still searching for one more device at Surin beach and still one more in Patong.
The device found at Surin beach this morning follows Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat yesterday assuring that that the situation in Phuket was under control after suspicious objects were found at several locations, including Phuket Airport, Patong Beach and Laem Phromthep.
Authorities believe the incidents were meant to cause panic rather than harm, as the devices contained no shrapnel or explosives.
Security measures have been intensified across the island, with increased patrols, random checks and plans for advanced screening at key checkpoints.
The Governor assured tourists and residents that Phuket remains safe.
The suspect, Mahama Wadeh, confessed to planting the devices with accomplices, using food delivery bags to disguise them. Investigations are ongoing to track the suspects and determine if other devices remain.
Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has cautioned against linking the incidents to southern unrest without solid evidence, warning that speculation could harm Thailand’s image and tourism.
Meanwhile, EOD teams in Krabi safely defused three homemade bombs believed to be connected to a wider network.
