The Thai seventh seed upset top seed Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia 21-11, 21-15 in the women’s singles final to win the Super 300 tournament at St Jakobshalle, reports the Bangkok Post.

It was her first title triumph since the 2024 Thailand Open and her third World Tour crown. The 28-year-old won the Super 300 US Open for her first World Tour title in 2023.

With the victory, Supanida is projected to move up three spots to No.11 in the world when the new BWF rankings are released today.

Supanida won a silver medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in December last year when Thailand hosted the biennial tournament. She lost to Ratchanok Intanon in the gold medal match.

She became the third Thai player/pair to win a BWF title this year after Kunlavut Vitidsarn (men’s singles, Malaysia Open) and Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran (mixed doubles, India Open).

Fellow Thai Pitchamon Opatniputh, who lost to Wardani in the Basel quarter-finals, is set to reach a new career high at No.27.
