The market will occupy the section of Phang Nga Rd from Yaowarat Rd to the Chartered Bank Intersection (where Phang Nga Rd meets Phuket Rd), and include Soi Pradit and Soi Takua Pa.
The roads will be closed to traffic while the new ‘walking street’ market is held, Phuket City Municipality explained in a notice posted yesterday (Oct 30).
The new market is scheduled to be held every Sunday from 4pm to 10pm from this Sunday (Nov 5) onwards, the notice explained.
“Therefore, it is necessary to temporarily close traffic and prohibit parking” in the affected area, the notice said.
People can park their cars at the Red Plaza parking area, in Soi Pradit (motorcycles only), in the alley next to Bangkok Bank and at the public parking at fresh market on Ranong Rd, Phuket City Municipality noted.
The municipality apologised for the inconvenience “on this occasion”.
