Pol. Lt. Col. Warawut Sensob, an investigating officer at Thalang Police Station, received a report of the accident at 11:40pm. The incident occurred on Thepkrasattri Rd (southbound), about 200 metres before the Do Home Thalang store in Thepkrasattri.
Police, along with patrol officers, rescue workers from the Song Ya Rescue Unit and Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation Muang Mai branch, arrived at the scene to find a grey Honda Civic sedan severely damaged, with debris scattered across the road.
Inside the wreckage, officers found the driver, identified as Jaturong Charoensuk, unconscious but still breathing and trapped in the vehicle. Rescue workers used specialised equipment to extricate him from the car before rushing him to Thalang Hospital for urgent treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr Jaturong had been driving from his workplace in a street beside Muang Thalang School, heading home at the time of the crash.
He was reportedly travelling at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle, veered onto the footpath and central median, and collided violently with a tree. The impact caused the car to overturn, resulting in extensive damage.
Police have confirmed that officers are reviewing CCTV footage in the area as part of efforts to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Further investigation is ongoing.
