The Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office (DDPM Phuket) confirmed that it was notified of the incident at about 8:55am, when a speedboat operated by ‘A-Time Company’ struck a fishing vessel while carrying tourists in waters off Krabi. Initial reports indicated the collision occurred in the Koh Phi Phi area.

Marine authorities later identified the speedboat as ‘Korawich Marine 888’, a 23.18-tonne vessel carrying 55 people ‒ including 52 passengers and three crew members ‒ which collided with a fishing boat named ‘Pichai Samut 1’.

According to preliminary investigations, 11 passengers sustained injuries, with one reported to be seriously injured. The injured were taken to Koh Phi Phi Hospital, where they received treatment. Other passengers suffered minor injuries and were given first aid at the scene and on shore. No fatalities were reported.

Authorities confirmed that ‘Korawich’ sustained damage in the collision, while the ‘Pichai Samut 1’ was not damaged. There was no reported environmental impact, such as oil leakage or marine pollution.

Following the incident, Phuket Province coordinated emergency assistance with multiple agencies. The Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation’s Tourist Assistance Centre dispatched two vessels to the scene to help evacuate tourists and crew and to ensure safety.

The Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Region 3 (Thai MECC 3) said it received a report of the collision at about 9:10am, prompting Vice Admiral Veerudhom Muangchin, Director of Maritime Security Command Region 3, to order immediate monitoring and rescue operations.

Thai MECC 3 coordinated with the Maritime Security Command in Krabi and the Krabi Port Security Control Centre to investigate the cause of the collision and manage on-scene assistance. All passengers were later confirmed to have been rescued and safely brought ashore at Koh Phi Phi.

Emergency medical teams from Phuket, including advanced and basic life support units, were mobilised as a precaution. Some patients were transferred onward for further treatment, including to Vachira Phuket Hospital, officials said.

“The situation is under control, and all victims have been safely rescued,” Thai MECC 3 said in a statement, adding that agencies will continue to monitor maritime safety in the area.

Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the collision, and an investigation is ongoing.
