Songkran break grows to five days

NATIONWIDE: The cabinet decided on Tuesday (Feb 27) to approve an extension of the Songkran holiday period, which from this year will be a five-day break running from April 12-16.

Col Athisith Chainuvati, a government spokesman, said the extended holiday will boost economic activity and tourism.

He added that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has asked various agencies to make life easier for those who are travelling home during the long holiday by staying open longer to provide more convenient services.

PBW is held mostly around Songkran.If you go on 11th or 14th you should be safe.The dinner on 12th isn't worth the money anyway.

I planned on going to the Patong 2018 Phuket Bike Week April 11-14. Unfortunately, the Songkran celebration has been extended to April 12-16.
While I'm only traveling from Kamala, this would mean that there will be water thrown at me while I'm on my motorcycle during the event.  Could be dangerous.  I would probably get wet while riding to the VIP dinner.  Could also be many angry & w...

Phuket Bike Week is in Patong from the 11th - 14th.
