The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning has hired contractor Ung Sae Heng Limited Partnership to carry out the work, Phuket City Municipality announced through a notice posted on its official Facebook page at 7:52pm last night (Mar 7).

However, the road closure was marked to be in effect from Mar 6 (Wednesday, two days ago) through to Apr 30.

The usually busy street has been closed to traffic so a HDPE drainage pipe can be installed as Phase 2 of the project to alleviate flooding in the area, the municipality explained.

“Please avoid the route around Soi Phaniang 1, use the diversion at the entrance opposite the Phuket Municipality water source, Soi Phaniang,

“We ask for everyone’s cooperation. Do not park any type of vehicle and do not place obstacles on the road where drainage pipes will be laid during this period. Doing so may cause inconvenience in using the route for travel,” the notice said.

“Sorry for the inconvenience on this occasion,” the notice added.

People with requests or complaints were advised to call Rachan Thueankhuncha at 062-2019056.
