Soak in the sunset with refreshing tapas, drinks and dinner at Patong Beach Club

Patong Beach Club is the latest addition to the Patong dining and nightlife scene, with drinks that keep you loose and a menu that screams “Royal Thai”.

The convenience of its  location – literally 15 steps  from the sand – is enough to  make it a requirement for anyone looking to make the most of their beach day.

The club, which opened in October, has gotten off to a rocking start thanks in large part to its location, cool vibes and food lineage as they have a distinct connection to one of Bangkok’s foremost restaurants, the highly-regarded Buri Tara Riverside Restaurant.

Though Patong Beach Club has built up quite a reputation for its drinks and nightlife, I was lucky
enough to check out their brand-new tapas menu, designed for those who crave Thai delights.

The biggest selling point of their tapas menu is how straight-forward and affordable it all is: B120 for a set of three choices (out of 14 dishes). It’s perfect for everyone in your group, including those picky eaters, deal makers, Thai food lovers, and everyone in-between! The purpose of the menu is to give people options, to taste a bit of everything, and still allow room for drinks and dancing!

We started with the Massaman Curry Risotto, always a crowd-pleaser, and the spices were not overpowering. It had a light, almost sweet after taste that was punctuated by the texture of the risotto – a nice alternative to rice. The Soft Shell Crab Salad was perhaps an early favourite as it had the perfect taste and went well with the Spinach with Cheese Sauce.

If you find yourself at Patong Beach Club, don’t forget to try the Green Mussel with Garlic Butter. Not only is it fresh, the flavours go well with the assortment on the menu. Perhaps what complemented best with the Green Mussel was the Seared Tuna Salad. This dish tasted like a small steak, very rich, though it almost melted in my mouth since it was so tender!

One surprising item was the Seared Tuna Tar Tar, which had a unique twist: it was basically tuna laab! Yes, the same powerful flavours found in laab made its way to this dish with a mix of herbs and spices that brought a real kick to the evening. It was paired nicely with the Crispy Prawn Wonton since the latter cut the spice and gave us a new taste to savour.

We even got to try two dishes on their regular menu: the Thai Green Curry and Curry River Prawn, which were both magical. The Green Curry was chock full of chicken and was mild enough to savour while the prawns were prefectly cooked with a delicous herb, butter sauce.

It was at this time that the sun had set and the beach club came even more alive with the sound of house music. The bar was lit up in graceful hues of blue, green, aqua marine, and reds that really made the space pop. Patong Beach Club is more than a place to sip and dine – it’s your next destination.
