Anti Narcotics Police led by Phuket City Police’s Maj Rittichai Chumchuy arrested four men and two women who were all found to be in possession of either methamphetamine (ya bah) or crystal meth (ya ice) or both during a sting operation which stared on Wednesday (Mar 2).
On Wednesday officers arrested Somchok Waroros, 39, at 6:45pm at a rented home on Srisaena Rd in Talad Yai with one gram of ya ice.
At 10pm the same day, police arrested Nattapong Somrak, 23, with .66 grams of ya ice and 2 ya bah pills and Ms Cheinkamon Kongrein, 25, with 13.48 grams of ya ice, 50 ya bah pills and drug taking paraphernalia at a home in Moo Baan Phuket Gardenville in Rassada.
Then yesterday (Mar 4) police arrested 19-year-old Kantaphon Chaiyakul at 1:45pm with 1.01 grams of ya ice at the car park of Big C on Thepkassattri Rd in Rassada, police seixed from him a Honda Wave motorbike they suspect he used for delivering drugs.
Just 15 minutes later police arrested Atchara Aroon, 31, and Theeraphon Sukkrai, 32, with the total of 6.67 grams of ya ice and five ya bah pills at a rented room in Soi Wison off Thepkassattri Rd.
“The arrest of Somchok came after we received a tip-off from undercover officers that he had been selling drugs in Talad Yai, Rassada and Phuket Town area. Officers set him up in a sting operation which led to the arrest of other five people,” revealed Maj Rittichai.
All six were taken to Phuket City Police Station where Nattapong was charged with illegal possession of a Category 1 drug, while the other five were charged with illegal possession of Category 1 drugs with intent to sell.
