The exercise, being held from May 20-27, includes HTMS Taksin from the Gulf of Thailand and two Singapore Navy vessels, RSS Unity and RSS Stalwart.

The Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre Region 3 (Thai-MECC 3), based at the Royal Thai Navy Third Naval Area Command at Cape Panwa, announced the ships’ presence in Phuket yesterday (May 24).

According to Thai MECC 3, the annual SINGSIAM exercise alternates between host nations each year. Singapore is hosting this year’s exercise, which is being conducted in the Andaman Sea area, while the Third Naval Area Command has deployed HTMS Kraburi to participate.

Officials said the exercise aims to strengthen relations between Thailand and Singapore while enhancing cooperation in protecting maritime interests and improving regional maritime security.

During the exercise, the vessels anchored at Phuket Deep Sea Port in Ao Makham, where crew members came ashore for sightseeing and relaxation on Phuket after completing training operations.

Authorities noted that the visit by the naval personnel also provided a boost to the local economy and tourism sector.

Thai MECC 3 reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national maritime interests and ensuring safety in the Andaman Sea.

The agency also reminded the public that maritime emergencies or incidents can be reported through its 24-hour hotline on 1465.
