The man, named by police only as “Mr. Joy” was arrested at an unregistered abode in Koh Kaew, where three stolen motorbikes were found.
The hunt for Mr Joy began on Dec 17, after a woman (named by police only as “Ms Patch) reported her motorbike stolen from in front of Patong Tower.
She parked her motorbike in front of Patong Tower at 9:40pm on Dec 16, and returned at about 11:45pm to find her brown Yamaha Grand Filano, registered in Udon Thani, missing.
Officers checked CCTV footage and managed to track down the thief, Mr Joy, arrested yesterday.
Her motorbike was recovered during the arrest in Koh Kaew yesterday, but now fitted with a Phuket licence plate.
A white Honda Scoopy I with its licence plate swapped and a blue-black Honda Wave 110i was also recovered at the address in Koh Kaew yesterday, as were several Phuket licence plates for motorbikes.
During questioning Mr Joy confessed to stealing motorbikes in Patong, Phuket Town and Wichit, police reported.
Mr Joy was taken back to Patong Police to face charges and for further questioning.
