Police were called to the scene, at the Indoor Stadium, also often called the ‘4,000-seat Municipal Indoor Stadium’, at 2:13am.

Officers and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Foundation arrived at the scene to find 33-year-old Seksan Aun Taen injured from knife wounds to his head and left arm.

He was administred immediate first aid and taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further treatment.

Police were told that two men approached Mr Seksan on a motorbike. Mr Seksan identified the driver as 22-year-old Wasan Koeythong. He did ont recognise the Thai man riding pillion.

One of the men shouted, "Is that Ton?" When Mr Seksan responded affirmatively, the passenger dismounted the motorbike and attacked him with a knife.

Mr Seksan attempted to defend himself, sustaining injuries to his arm and head in the process. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault.

Police believe the attack stemmed from a personal dispute. They are currently trying to track down the suspects and confirm the motive for the attack with the intent of pressing charges.
