Police were informed of the man’s death by Thalang Hospital at 1:04am today (May 16).
Officers arrived at the hospital to inspect the body of Malawee Mamurae, 37, who had suffered extensive injuries to his head and face.
Officers later arrived at Mr Malawee’s residence, a small rented bungalow behind the Mak Prok convenience store at Tha Chatchai, to find the home ransacked and blood stains all over the floor.
Rescue workers who were called to the scene earlier confirmed that Mr Malawee had no pulse. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Forensic officers inspected the scene today. Evidence was gathered at the scene, and DNA samples were taken from a blue Yala-registered Honda Wave motorbike parked in front of the home.
Neighbour Elijah Suwae said he heard “sounds” coming from inside the home. He went to check on Mr Malawee but the door was locked, so he called a friend over and through a window they saw Mr Malawee unconscious on the floor, and raised the alarm.
