School's out but surf's up
PHUKET: For Tim Campbell, the director of Skyla’s Surf Camp, summer holidays don’t necessarily mean a break from education for the little ones.

Tim is currently in the enrollment stage of the fourth term of Surf Camps, and is pleased with how well the ‘new’ summer courses have gone so far.
“We have been stoked with the positive spirit and enthusiasm of all the kids.
“Although we have been running our surf school for the last eight years, this year is the first time we have delivered ocean and beach education alongside the Surf Camp.”
Examples of the subjects raised were ocean awareness, environmental issues, being ‘sun smart’ and ‘how to enjoy the healthy outdoors.’
Tim was however, quick to point out that the education element didn’t necessarily detract from the fun of learning to surf, for the children in attendance, it was just an added bonus.
“We feel that swimming, especially in the ocean, is a key life skill to have.
“We aim to provide these life skills to kids. who will have them for the rest of their lives.”
