The Samkong Shrine is one of the most popular Chinese shrines in Phuket Town and has long participated in the Phuket Vegetarian Festival.
The procession left the shrine at 7:09am and made its way to Saphan Hin, where more rituals and ceremonies were performed before the procession made its way back to the shrine on Yaowarat Rd.
Six other shrines also conducted their street processions today: Thee Gong Tua Shrine (Phuket Town); Sam Sian Tong Shrine (Chalong); Guan Yu Shrine (Ban Nabon); Ngore Choon Gend Baanya Shrine (Baan Ya); Tai Houd Tong Shrine (Surin Beach); and Bu Seng Tong Shrine (Baan Kian)
The period for street processions during the festival continues to gain momentum tomorrow (Oct 19), as eight shrines take to the streets, as follows:
6:09am - Bangjo Shrine (Srisoonthorn)
6:09am - Ban Tha Rue Shrine (south of Heroines Monument)
6:30am - Jeng Ong Shrine (near Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town)
7:00am - Tai Seng Oud Jor (Chalong)
7:15am - Tae Gun Tai Tae Shrine (Baan Pasak)
7:30am - Hok Ong Tong Shrine (Chalong)
3:00pm - Seng Leng Tong Shrine (Muang Mai)
6:45pm - Sapam Shrine
