The incident occurred near Rajaprachanukroh School 36 at around 6:45pm on Saturday (Dec 28), Kamala Police reported.
Kamala Police responded to a tip-off from a concerned citizen who reported two vehicles being driven in a manner that obstructed normal traffic.
Officers led by Pol Lt Surassit Wandee of the Kamala Police soon arrived at the scene to find two red MG Cyberster cars parked on the side of the road.
The drivers, Sergey Biryukov, 44, and Sergei Teptin, 41, both Russian nationals, admitted to driving side by side at slow speeds to record content for social media.
The pair, staying at a hotel in the Kamala area, presented valid international driver’s licenses, police confirmed.
A preliminary alcohol test revealed no traces of intoxication, police noted in their report.
Both men were charged with violating Thailand’s Traffic Act B.E. 2522, specifically for reckless driving that could cause harm, crossing lane lines improperly and obstructing traffic, police also confirmed.
Each was fined the maximum penalty of B2,500. The tourists paid the fines in full and promised not to repeat such behaviour, Kamala Police said.
