PHUKET: Russian tourist, 27-year-old Svetlana Makovskaya, won the Royal Phuket City Hotel’s cake eating competition on Sunday (March 24) by eating 12 pieces of cake.

Despite having bandaged arms from an accident, Svetlana Makovskaya won the cake-eating competition.
She fought off competition from Thai man Kanit Yingpitpor, who won last year’s competition but only managed to eat 10 pieces of cake this year.
Altogether 16 participants took part – seven foreigners and nine Thais.
Ms Makovskaya won B10,000 prize money and vouchers for the hotel’s 154 cafe.
