Following the incident, Mr Jatupong Gungkaew posted pictures of the damaged vehicles on the “Phuket News Centre” Line group together with the message: “The failure of Phuket tourism, this happened this morning October 25 in Moo 3 Karon, a drunk Russian smashed local vehicles”.
Mr Jatupong said that he was notified of the incident by the assistant to the village headman, Ms Nom Yenjit, who said that two vehicles belonging to her sister and her sister’s husband had been damaged by the tourist. The couple reported the incident to Karon Police.
Ms Nom said that at around 3am this morning a Russian woman stopped at the Pa Waew Restaurant on Patak Rd.
“She was drunk and told people her purse was missing. She demanded to see the police so we called them for her. While waiting for police to arrive she went out of control, she smashed our car and van with a brick,” she said.
The woman, who has yet to be named, was taken to Karon Police Station and once sober enough will be questioned about the incident. She is likely to be charged with damaging other people’s property.
