The operation, dubbed ‘Moscow Devil Filler’, was carried out by officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) and officials from the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office.
The suspect, identified by police as ‘Ms Kristine’, a Russian national, was arrested during a search of a luxury villa in Thepkrasattri on the strength of a search warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court.
According to the CIB, investigators from CSD Division 5 had received information that a foreign national was operating an unlicensed beauty clinic offering cosmetic injection services from the property.
During the search, officers found a client lying on a treatment bed in a downstairs bedroom and appearing to be undergoing a cosmetic procedure.
A subsequent search of the room uncovered a large quantity of medicines, medical supplies and equipment used for aesthetic treatments, including collagen injections, lidocaine injections, botulinum toxin type A products, cross-linked hyaluronic acid fillers, syringes and needles.
In total, authorities seized 130 pieces of medicine and medical equipment across 32 categories, with an estimated value of more than B600,000.
Investigators said they requested documentation authorising the operation of a medical facility and evidence of a medical licence, but the suspect was unable to produce either.
Police reported that the woman admitted the villa was not licensed as a medical facility and that she did not hold a licence to practise medicine in Thailand. Authorities also alleged that some of the medicines and medical equipment had been brought into the country from Russia through an airport without proper authorisation.
The suspect was arrested and taken, along with the seized items, to Thalang Police Station for further legal action.
She faces multiple charges, including operating a medical facility without a licence, selling medical devices without authorisation, selling unregistered medical devices, selling modern medicines without a licence and selling unregistered medicines.
Police noted that the suspect initially denied the charges.
