Krabi City Police stationed at the Khao Khram police box were notified of an accident on Phetkasem Rd southbound, Moo 1 in Khao Khram, which is opposite the Krabi Extension and Agriculture Development Centre (Horticulture) at 7am today (Mar 16).

Krabi City Police arrived at the scene along with Krabi Pitak Pracha rescue workers to find a white tour bus in a roadside ditch and smashed into a tree.

One foreign man and two foreign women had minor injuries and were taken to Krabi Hospital.

The tour bus driver, Rachen Sawengsuk, 46, told police, “I was driving the tour bus, which belongs to ‘Coral Travel Co Ltd’, from Phuket to Krabi International Airport. The tour bus was carrying 36 Russian tourists.

When arrived at the scene, three big bikes were racing. One of them suddenly cut in front of me. I immediately tried to avoid a collision and steered to the side of the road,. However, I lost control of the vehicle which caused the bus to go into the ditch and collide with a tree,” Mr Rachen explained.

Another tour bus from the same company was called to pick up the tourists and take them to Krabi International Airport,” Mr Rachen noted.

Police are continuing their investigation to see if any charges will be pressed.
