Russian tourist missing, feared drowned at Nai Yang Beach

PHUKET: The Phuket division of the Tourist Police Bureau has issued a public appeal for any information that may aid in the search for a missing Russian man who allegedly disappeared in the sea at Nai Yang Beach this evening (Sept 1).

Phuket Tourist Police were notified of a missing person at Nai Yang Beach at around 7.30pm today. Authorities explained in a brief notice posted at 9.31pm that the man may have drowned in the sea amid rough weather conditions.

According to Phuket Tourist Police, a search and rescue operation was initiated after receiving notification of the incident. However, the effort was halted at 8.30pm due to adverse weather conditions. It is understood that the search and rescue teams will resume the operation in the morning.

"If anyone has any information, please report it via the 1155 hotline and stay safe," said Phuket Tourist Police.

Officials did not disclose the missing person’s name but shared a photograph of a young Caucasian male believed to be the missing Russian tourist.
