Russian man dies in fall from building

PHUKET: A 22-year-old Russian man died after falling from a condominium building in Wichit yesterday afternoon (Apr 20), with police investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Wichit Police were notified of the incident at 5:15pm, when Pol Lt Purachet Chukaew, Deputy Investigator at Wichit Police Station, received a report that a foreign national had fallen from height at a condominium in Moo 4, Wichit.

Pol Lt Purachet reported the incident to Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang before coordinating patrol and investigation officers to attend the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found the man* lying unconscious on the ground below the building in critical condition.

Emergency responders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene before rushing him to Bangkok Hospital Siriroj. However, he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have since coordinated with forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital to conduct a post-mortem examination in accordance with legal procedures.

Police have also contacted the Tourist Police and the International Affairs Division to notify the Russian Embassy.

The exact cause of the fall remains under investigation.
