Pol. Lt. Col. Warawut Sensoep, Investigation Officer from Chalong Police Station, was alerted to the incident around 11:30am yesterday morning before dispatching a team to the scene.
There they were met with medical staff from Vachira Phuket Hospital and the Phuket Ruam Jai Rescue Foundation.
It appeared that the Russian man, wearing only black shorts and no shirt, had jumped from the 7th floor roof of the building to his death, landing in a construction site next to the condo.
Police interviewed an eye witness, a Turkish tourist who was at the rooftop pool of the condo with his son and who was present when the inicdent happened.
The man explained he was playing in the pool with his son when he noticed the Russian man standing near the edge of the rooftop, before he reverted back to playing with his son.
When the Turkish man looked towards the Russian man again he realised he was not there and had jumped from the rooftop. The Turkish tourist notified the police immediately.
Further investigation from police revealed that the Russian man was staying at the condo which he was renting from a fellow Russian.
Officers confirmed they would contact the deceased man’s friends for further statements before releasing his body to family for funeral arrangements.
The Phuket News opts not to release the name of the deceased man pending confirmation that his family have been notified of his death.
