The post this morning explained that a Tourist Police sergeant had provided assistance to the Russian.
None of the people in the car were injured in the accident, Phuket Tourist Police noted in their very brief report.
The Russian tourist had rented the car, a Honda sedan, and had an accident in Trang province, the report noted.
Photos of the car showed the vehicle was bearing red licence plates, which are issued to car dealers to be used on the car until the genuine licence plates arrive.
Under the terms of using red licence plates, such vehicles must first be granted special permission to be driven on public roads at night and must first be granted special permission to be driven out of the province where the vehicle is registered.
The report by Phuket Tourist Police made no mention of the red licence plates.
“The renter accepts the price of damages to be paid to the lessor,” the report said.
Of note, the incident has not yet been reported by the Trang Tourist Police, which also covers Phatthalung province. (see official website here.)
