Aleksandr Nikolaev was transferred from Thalang Police Station to Phuket Provincial Court this morning (Dec 31).
His mother, Elena Nikolaeva, survived her throat being cut with the knife in the attack on Friday. She is reported to be in serious condition, but no further details of her condition have been released.
After holding Nikolaev for 48 hours, police were required to hand him over to the court for further detention.
While bringing him from his police cell to the transport vehicle, Nikolaev appeared to be weary.
Nikolaev at this stage has been charged with ‘attempted murder’.
He is believed to be mentally ill and is receiving psychiatric help.
A Russian translator has been provided, but at last report he had so far refused to speak with officers further about the incident.
