The incident occurred at 3:20pm on Kata Noi Rd, according to a report filed with Karon Police.
Officers were alerted at about 3:30pm, when traffic police informed duty investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Eaksak Khwanwan that a six-wheeled truck belonging to Sermsuk Co had lost control and rolled backwards down an uphill slope.
The truck, registered in Bangkok and driven by Chanon Tula, collided with a six-wheeled minibus registered in Phuket and driven by Phutinan Boonrit before continuing on and crashing into the wall of Chanalai Garden Resort, causing damage to the property.
Police have named Mr Chanon as the driver at fault in the incident.
It was not reported whether the truck had failed to make it up the hill toward Kata Noi and began rolling backwards, or whether the vehicle had been pulled over and subsequently suffered a brake failure.
Pol Lt Col Eaksak attended the scene to conduct an inspection, with officers documenting the crash and recording a formal complaint.
Karon Police confirmed that further investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
