Rider injured as motorbike slams back of refrigerator truck

PHUKET: A 23-year-old Thai national suffered serious injuries when the motorbike he was riding collided with the back of a truck on Thepkrasattri Rd early this morning (Jan 6).

Police responded to the incident on Thepkrasattri Rd northbound in Tambon Rassada at 3.05am.

Having arrived at the scene, police officers found a black Honda PCX motorcycle that had crashed into a white Toyota cold storage pickup truck with a Bangkok registration. The motorbike sustained extensive damage.

Nearby, police and rescue workers discovered Mr Piyawat (family name reserved), 23, with serious injuries. He was also bleeding heavily and rushed to Mission Hospital.

It is believed that Mr Piyawat was riding his motorbike at high speed and lost control, resulting in the crash. Police are continuing their investigation into the accident.
