Thalang Police were informed of the shooting at 6:39pm yesterday (July 4).
Officers and rescue workers from the Srisoonthorn Municipality arrived at the scene, a rental house in Moo 5, Srisoonthorn, behind Wat Srisoonthorn School, to find bullet casings scattered on the ground, indicating seven rounds had been fired.
The victim, identified as Padungdach Nooju, a 19-year-old originally from Nakhon Sri Thammarat, sustained minor injuries to his head and waist.
The shots were fired from a distance, causing the injuries, police were told.
Rescue units transported Mr Padungdach to Thalang Hospital for further medical attention.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the shooter was Somrak Sukonthamat, 63, registered as a resident of Phuket Town but staying in a unit across from Mr Padungdach.
Somrak lived in a rental unit opposite Mr Padungdach’s. The two had previously been friendly, often drinking together in front of their rooms.
However, their relationship had soured over time, leading to frequent arguments and distancing from each other.
While Mr Padungdach and his brother were drinking beer outside their room yesterday, Somrak fired a firearm in their direction, hitting Mr Padungdach, police noted in their report.
After the shooting, Somrak fled the scene on a red-black Honda Wave motorbike
The police are now searching for Somrak with the intent of pressing charges.
