Marine police are continuing to look for the missing 18-year-old.

Pol Maj Prapan Chanprakon from the Marine police led a team of divers, Karon beach rescue workers and Kata beach lifeguards to look for the missing victim, named as Boonchiew Tongdonmuang, at 7am this morning but weather conditions hampered their search.

Maj Prapan said, “Yesterday we received a call from the Karon tourist rescue centre that a 18 year old man had gone missing at around 1:30pm whilst on a fishing trip with his friends near Pha Cape. The boy got swept away by waves we were told.

“All evening rescue workers and beach guards were looking for him and we came to help, but the search had to stop due to a storm.

“After the weather clears today we will continue to search until we find him,” said Maj Prapan.
