Officers from Chalong Police Station were called to a house in Rawai at 4:26pm, where the body of 44-year-old Suriya Yukunthorn was discovered inside a bedroom.
According to the initial police report, investigating officers, a forensic doctor and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find Mr Suriya lying on the floor with a rope tied around his neck after relatives had taken him down from where he had been hanging.
Police said Mr Suriya’s daughter told officers she had returned home at about 4:30pm and found her father unresponsive inside the bedroom. Relatives were called to help remove him before emergency services arrived.
Family members told police that Mr Suriya had been under stress over debt-related issues and that they did not suspect foul play in his death.
After an examination at the scene, the body was released to relatives for religious rites.
The case is being handled by investigators from Chalong Police Station.
