Ratsada raid nets armed suspect

PHUKET:A 25-year-old man was arrested with an illegal handgun and ammunition at a house in Ratsada and later tested positive for drug use, police have confirmed.

Officers from Phuket City Police Station arrested Viroj ‘C’ Thongplub at a residence in the Sri Suchat Grandview 2 housing estate in Moo 5, Ratsada at about 5:15pm yesterday (Mar 11).

The arrest was carried out under the direction of Phuket City Police Superintendent Pol Col Chatree Chukaew, with officers led by Deputy Inspector Pol Lt Apichat Musikasang, Phuket City Police reported

Police seized a Thai-made handgun, six rounds of .38 Special ammunition and a black leather holster from the suspect.

According to police, a urine test conducted on Viroj also returned positive for a Category 1 narcotic.

He has been charged with illegal possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition without a permit, as well as drug use.

Viroj was taken to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
