Mayor Nakarin inspected the site, near Soi King Kaew 2, on Friday (Nov 16). Joining him were members of the Ratsada Municipality executive council and council lawyers, along with local community representatives.
The site of the illegal dumping was on land that has been designated by the Office of the National Land Policy Board as to be used by the local community for planting produce.
While at the site, the officers found a white pickup carrying foam-type garbage, plastic bags and other similar waste. The driver was caught trying to sneak in and illegally dump the waste at the site, said an official report.
By speaking with the people present on Friday, it is understood that trash is brought in from outside the area to be dumped at the site, officials noted.
Ratsada Municipality will proceed with pressing charges against the driver of the pickup, the official report noted.
Mayor Nakarin also urged local community leaders and fellow residents in the area to join together to strictly monitor the area to prevent further illegal dumping at the site.
