The forecast officer on duty at the Thailand Meteorological Department Southwest, who declined to give his name, told The Phuket News this morning, “We are still in the dry season. We expect the rains to arrive in mid-April or early May.”

However, there are chances of more thunder storms before that, he said, resulting from unstable weather condition caused by the meeting of warm and cold fronts.

“The storms will usually last around one hour. They happen every year around this time.”

In the next couple of days, thundery showers are expected in some parts of Phuket, he added.
