Chalong Municipality this week confirmed that officers from its Public Order Division identified and prosecuted people responsible for illegally dumping rubbish on Nakok Rd leading to the Khun Sanya Learning Center in Moo 5.

According to a municipal announcement posted on Wednesday (May 20), officers used CCTV footage to trace the offenders, who later confessed to the offence.

The offenders were fined B3,000 under the Public Cleanliness and Orderliness Act and ordered to clean up the area immediately.

Chalong Municipality said the action reflected its policy of strict enforcement against illegal dumping and called on residents and businesses to help keep public areas clean.

The municipality also urged members of the public to report any future violations directly to its Public Order Division.

The move drew widespread support online, with many local residents praising the enforcement action.

“That’s how it should be. I think it’s a lesson learned,” one commenter wrote, while another simply posted, “Good job.”

In a separate operation on Tuesday (May 19), Chalong municipal officers inspected illegal dumping at a workers’ camp in Soi Klum Yang.

The inspection was carried out under the direction of Chalong Mayor Samran Jindaphol in cooperation with the municipality’s Public Health and Environment Division.

Municipal officers issued warnings to those responsible and ordered them to clear the rubbish from the site within the same day.

Officials warned that further inspections and fines would follow if the offenders failed to comply.

Meanwhile, Wichit Municipality also reported successful enforcement action after receiving a complaint about construction waste illegally dumped in a public area on Chao Fa Rd last Sunday (May 17).

Wichit Municipality’s Public Order Unit tracked the vehicle involved and located it parked outside a shop on Chao Fa East Rd.

Municipal officials confirmed that the offender admitted dumping the construction debris at the site.

On May 18, the individual was formally charged with violating Section 33 in conjunction with Section 57 of the Public Cleanliness and Orderliness Act B.E. 2535 (1992).

A fine of B6,000 was imposed, and the offender was ordered to clean up the affected area.

Wichit Municipality also appealed for cooperation from residents and business owners to help prevent illegal dumping and protect the environment.

The municipality encouraged anyone witnessing similar offences to report them to its Public Order Unit.

Online reaction to the Wichit enforcement was also overwhelmingly positive.

“Clearly, this is how it should be. The town will be clean this way,” one resident commented.

Others thanked both the person who reported the offence and municipal officers for tracking down those responsible and forcing them to take responsibility for the clean-up.

Some commenters suggested rewards should be offered to residents who help expose illegal dumping, while others praised the officers’ work as “professional”.
