The alarm was raised when Napaporn Srichana reported that her relative, Mr Wisarut, a 30-year-old psychiatric patient, had taken a long-tailed boat named ‘Nina’ from Koh Lon to Khai Nok Island.
Concerned for his safety, she contacted Phuket branch of the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center, operating out of the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command at Cape Panwa (Thai-MECC 3), for assistance through their emergency hotline.
A search was launched, and on reaching the Koh Khai Nok area, the Navy search team confirmed with local boat operators that Mr Wisarut had been seen on the island.
Mr Wisarut was found at about 3pm yesterday (July 30) and brought back onto the rescue boat, Thai-MECC 3 reported.
During the return trip to shore, Mr Wisarut appeared disoriented and unable to communicate. Consequently, coordination was made with an emergency medical team to ensure he would receive immediate medical attention upon arrival.
Authorities were also informed to maintain order at the docking area to prevent any potential harm, given Mr Wisarut’s condition.
Relatives safely navigated the long-tailed boat back to shore, concluding the successful rescue operation. Thai-MECC 3 confirmed.
Mr Wisarut is now under medical supervision, and further steps are being taken to ensure his safety and well-being.
