No injuries were reported in the fire.
Karon Police were called to the scene, on Kata Rd, at around 5:35am.
When officers and firefighters arrived, the flames had already engulfed two motorbikes parked beside the pole. Two other motorbikes were damaged by the fire.
Telephone and internet cables, along with decorative wiring, were also damaged by the fire, as was the corner section of the main Burger King sign.
A witness, Chitkamon Musikarat, who owns a nearby restaurant, told police she saw the fire ignite near the pole and rapidly spread.
Firefighters quickly secured the area and contacted the electricity authority to cut power in order to safely douse the flames.
Karon Police said they were investigating the cause of the fire, though they also said that the initial indications pointed to an electrical fault.
The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, police said.
